Cowgirl SeaHorse

259 Front Street New York, NY 10038

A hidden gem tucked beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, Cowgirl SeaHorse is a unique NYC dining experience, featuring barbecue, Tex-Mex and Southern favorites in an inviting setting with real vintage flair.

What year did you open your business and why? Why did you select this location?
Our founder has lived in the Old Seaport for many years. In 2008, she saw that this beautiful old building, once a thriving local restaurant, was vacant and empty. Most would have been reluctant to start something new with the state of the economy at the time, but she saw an opportunity to launch a new restaurant, the perfect place for a concept that offered good value and an inviting atmosphere that could thrive despite the risks.

What do you love about your neighborhood?
The Old Seaport is a unique neighborhood. One of the oldest neighborhoods in NYC, its cobblestone streets and ancient buildings live in the shadows of skyscrapers. History and modernity mix in ways that could only happen here. The residents share a sense of how special it is and are proud to be a part of it.

What project do you plan to use the Love Your Local grant funding to implement?
We have many plans, including staff training, new equipment and software, as well as increasing our seating capacity.
